Ten million euros to revolutionize "soft mobility": meeting between Province and Region

Meeting between the Region and the Province of Padua on the work of the Ipa - Area Programmatic Agreements. An update meeting was held at the headquarters in Piazza Bardella between Elisa De Berti, vice president of the Veneto Region and councilor with responsibility for public works, infrastructure, transportation and legal affairs, and Eleonora Mosco, councilor of the Province of Padua with responsibility for the Ipa.

«As the body responsible for the IPAs of the Lower Padua area and an operational point of reference - Mosco summarizes - it was a great opportunity to meet Vice President De Berti who confirms the role and coordination and management activity of the Province of Padua also to shorten the collaboration chain with the Region. Sharing with the surveyors will be increasingly essential so that they increasingly bring all the various proposals to the coordination table. The meeting gave the opportunity to illustrate the projects in the implementation phase and provide the related updates». The projects are subject to financing of ten million euros, of which approximately three are intended for the implementation of infrastructure works such as cycle paths, interchange car parks and a cycle/pedestrian walkway along the territory of eleven Municipalities: Anguillara Veneta, Bagnoli di Sopra, Battaglia Terme, Due Carrare, Este, Monselice, Montagnana, Pernumia, San Pietro Viminario, Tribano, Vo'. Approximately five million euros are intended for small and medium-sized businesses in the area that have requested it with specific programs. The contributions are included in the “Padova Next Generation” call for proposals by the MiSe.

Eleonora Mosco adds: «Particular attention with De Berti was paid to the infrastructural projects relating to the completion of the cycle paths, especially in the section from Anguillara to Bagnoli towards Pernumia on one side and towards Cartura on the other, because this route will prove to be particularly strategic as it will allow the Anello Colli to be connected with the Adige and in turn with the Sale and Zucchero cycle path. In addition to these cycle infrastructure works, there will be the construction of five interchange car parks that will provide support and allow full use of the cycle paths. They will be built in Montagnana, Monselice, Vo', Due Carrare and Tribano and will be characterised by being multifunctional interchange car parks with a bar-restaurant, workshop space, shower space, video surveillance, camper area, bike charging station, picnic tables. An expected, strategic, concrete investment: with 10 million euros, the Province of Padua is launching a relaunch plan for the Bassa Padovana, a territory that for too long has remained on the margins of the major development lines. Today, thanks to a new network of cycle paths and dedicated infrastructures, that part of the province is back at the centre of development and growth policies.

Eleonora Mosco concludes: «It is much more than a soft mobility project. It is a vision of the future that restores dignity, connections and opportunities to an area that was forgotten in the past. Today the Province transforms a fragility into a strength: we connect what was separate, we enhance the villages, the nature trails, the local economies. The project is part of a strong push towards cycling mobility, which is going through a moment of great enthusiasm at a national and European level. But the real impact will be above all territorial: more services, more tourist attractiveness, more economic development. The Bassa Padovana is no longer the periphery: it is back in the center, back in priority. And this is the right direction: investing where there is unexpressed potential, where there is a desire for redemption, where the community deserves real attention».
